6th Grade is divided into two music classes this year. At the beginning of the year the students were given a choice of general music (band prep) and chorus. Below is a summary of what we have been doing in each class.
6th Grade Music - We began the year with a few general lessons about music and pre-visit lessons leading into the New Harmonies field trip. After the New Harmonies trip we divided into groups to rotate through 6 stations over a 6 week period. The stations include: Making a Jazz /Blues Artist Poster, making a roots instrument poster, create your own instruments, Music Staff games, and music symbols games. We have two more weeks in this rotation after fall break.
6th Grade Chorus - We began the year learning about our singing voices and how to get the most from them. We moved into solfege (do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do) to begin our work on the Star Spangled Banner. When we successfully learn to sing the National Anthem we will be recording it for the schools daily use.
